Biography
I am a specialist construction and engineering lawyer. Across my mixed contentious and non-contentious practice, I act for developers/property owners, funders, contractors, consultants, and specialist sub-contractors, on a range of construction projects across the UK including housing, student and later life accommodation, education, retail, commercial, and mixed-use sites.
I draft, negotiate, and report on project documentation (contracts, appointments and ancillary documents) and contract implementation. My areas of specialism include supporting a number of freeholders with cladding remediation works on several large portfolios of high rise residential buildings under the PSCRF, BSF, and developer remediation pledge, and advising on issues arising from the Building Safety Act 2022. I also have experience in advising on issues arising in contract drafting in relation to building information modelling (BIM) and new and evolving construction technologies.
My aim is to deliver timely targeted advice to facilitate dispute avoidance, with the approach that contractual risk can be best managed by having the right advice at the right time, from procurement strategy and contract negotiation, through operation of contractual mechanisms, to enforcement and, if necessary, dispute resolution.
I advise on construction disputes, from the earliest stages through to adjudication as well as TCC litigation; my contentious practice includes payment disputes, final account claims, and complex technical defects disputes, with a specialism in the use and interrogation of complex e-disclosure datasets in disputes.
