Biography
I am a Partner in the Medical Negligence team in Birmingham, having worked at Irwin Mitchell since 2009.
All of the cases I progress consider the care and treatment that doctors and other medical practitioners have provided to their patients. I act exclusively for the patient, fully investigating the care they have received and providing answers to the questions they have on how their injury came about.
I run my own varied caseload with all of my cases involving life changing injuries for my clients. My clients range from those with serious brain injuries such as cerebral palsy, families of Deceased patients (including those who have died due to preventable suicides), patients who have suffered delays in diagnosis of cancer, and patients who have suffered significant orthopaedic injuries such as amputations.
I am known for achieving great results in difficult cases and have achieved some of the highest awards of compensation in this sector for my clients, including awards of many millions of pounds. I am praised for my innovative thinking, applying new approaches to cases and strong tactics in order to succeed for my clients. I pride myself on having a client centric approach with a strong commitment to building solid relationships with clients and always ensuring that they are at the heart of the case.
I have a specialist interest in private healthcare, championing greater regulation of the sector to ensure that all doctors are appropriately insured should claims be made against them.
I manage a team of Solicitors who work tirelessly to progress their cases to successful conclusions.
Within Irwin Mitchell, I am the Early Careers Regional Representative supporting junior lawyers with wellbeing, the lead partner for Responsible Business in the Birmingham office, and I hold a national position on the Responsible Business Management Committee (RBMC). Notable achievements include the firm signing the United Nations Global Compact, and the development of our new Environmental Strategy and Roadmap to Net Zero. In addition, I lead our department’s delivery of local pro-bono clinics and the office response to world events.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I always knew I wanted to enter a profession that could make a difference to peoples' lives. At a young age, I was lucky enough to be offered work experience at a local solicitors firm. It struck me how effective a solicitor could be in resolving others' issues. From then on, it was the only career I ever wanted.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
My clients have all suffered life-changing injuries, often abruptly. I enjoy helping my clients understand their injury, being with them on their road to recovery and ultimately, securing funds to put them back in the position they would have been had they not been injured. This is often incredibly difficult but once achieved, it is very rewarding to see and have been a part of.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
Health problems can affect every person, from all walks of life. My role as a clinical negligence solicitor allows me to meet people from a whole variety of backgrounds which I find incredibly interesting.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I am a certified open water scuba diver, with qualifications in deep sea diving, navigation and night dives. I have dived all over the world including the Great Barrier Reef (Australia) and the Mamanuca Islands (Fiji).
I am also an enthusiastic member of my local running club.
