What inspired you to get into law?
I studied Law at University where I was able to meet various people from different law firms and gain a real insight into the work that is carried out. I realised very early that I had a particular interest in Court of Protection matters. The work we do involves working directly with clients, case managers, therapists and support teams. I directly assist and help individuals in their day to day lives which is incredible fulfilling.
What do you like about working with Irwin Mitchell?
I really value the flexible working culture at Irwin Mitchell, which supports a healthy work-life balance.
The firm also places a strong emphasis on recognising and rewarding contributions, which makes me feel appreciated and motivated.
Additionally, the variety of support and recognition teams available creates a positive and inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to thrive.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Working in Court of Protection, it is very difficult to pick one highlight. I find every day brings its own highlight when you are able to achieve something for and with your clients that they would not have otherwise been able to do; whether this is being able to attend school, go on holidays, take their first steps or being able to live as independently as possible.
What do you do away from the office?
As a mum to two little people my time is now spent running around after them, attending country parks, animal farms and various soft play centres! How things have changed.
Testimonials
"I have worked with Rachael (Adams) Oakwood – Associate Solicitor of Irwin Mitchell – for the last 5 years. I can honestly say she has been brilliant in helping me every step of the way regarding Court of Protection and the care and guidance of my son.
"While going through this process, it becomes overwhelming at times for both me and my family, but Rachael has always been my go-to person. In her calming manner, she takes hold of situations (usually one of my crises) and sorts things out. She always goes the extra mile, encouraging and making things happen that we could only dream about. We are so thankful for her." - Client's mother

"We had the privilege of working with Rachael Adams, Caitlin Kelly, and Camila Toscano. They supported us through our property purchase and adaptations — thanks to them, we have moved into our "forever home" with our daughter. They also support us with day-to-day management, and we have built up a very good relationship with Rachael, Caitlin, and Camila.
"For these three ladies, 'impossible doesn't exist'. They have never failed us, and we couldn't ask for a better team. They are always ready to answer all our questions and support us. They respond to emails and phone calls very quickly. Their level of communication is very high, they are very professional, and we recommend them strongly." - Client's mother
