Biography
I am the Managing Partner for Personal Injury, looking after the Serious Injury team, the International Serious Injury team and the Asbestos and Occupational Diseases team.
I also lead the Serious Injury national team, and I am based in the London office. I have specialised in a range of personal injury cases including brain injury and spinal cord injury cases. I also have undertaken fatal, polytrauma and amputation cases. I have extensive experience in cases involving deliberate assault and child abuse.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
We are an amazing team and have great resources from our colleagues in our support departments. There is a wealth of knowledge which is shared across the offices on our specialist cases, and I am very proud of the successes we have all had on our cases - not just the compensation won but the positive rehab outcomes secured for people with life changing injuries too.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
It is a huge privilege to lead a team of expert lawyers working to improve the lives of clients and their families who have suffered life changing injury or life limiting illness.
I am most happy when we not only get a good settlement of a case, but we also manage to do something good in addition like putting in place some effective rehab or getting an apology. I like to use the claims process imaginatively because it is rarely just the money which is important.
What inspired you to get into law?
I went into the law to make a difference to people's lives and to be able offer skilled and expert advice to a broad cross section of the community. My work in child abuse claims has often involved helping the most ignored, socially excluded and disadvantaged people in society. My aim in accident cases is to return people to as full a life as possible. In fatal cases, I work to give financial security to bereaved families.
What do you do away from the office?
I enjoy running - usually listening to a talking book. And getting out into the countryside for walks in all weathers. From Norfolk originally, I spend a lot of time on the M11 and A11 travelling back to see family and the beautiful coast and big skies.
