Football Injury Claims

Trustpilot

Anyone who plays football knows that injuries can happen. In most cases, these injuries are nobody’s fault – it’s just part of the game. However, things change when reckless, negligent, or intentionally harmful behaviour causes more serious football injuries.

Our expert lawyers have helped many players, professional and amateur, claim compensation for football injuries caused by a dangerous tackle or poor pitch conditions. Contact our team to see if you can claim for your injury.

We understand that a football injury can have serious consequences on your life. You might be unable to work for some time while you recover, which means you could miss out on pay. In the most severe cases, you might not be able to work again. We’re here to help.

Some of the injuries we’ve helped clients in the past with include:

  • Serious cuts and lacerations
  • Fractures
  • Concussions and other head injuries
  • Torn ligaments.

We’ll fight fearlessly to achieve the best outcome for your claim. Not only that, but we’ve an in-depth understanding of the legal issues around football injuries, and we know what positive action to take to make a difference.

Rehabilitation is an important part of many claims, which is why we’ll make sure that you have access to any specialist medical care you might need for your injury.

Most of our football injury claims are made using a no win no fee agreement. This means there’s no financial risk to you if your claim isn’t successful.

Why choose us to help with your football injury claim?

Our team of personal injury specialists are recognised as one of the strongest of any law firm in the UK. Our team have secured the largest amount of compensation, over £1.5 billion, for personal injury clients of any UK law firm.

We’ve experienced solicitors based in offices across the UK who specialise in helping people to claim compensation for football injuries. If meeting in an office isn’t suitable, we can arrange to meet you elsewhere if appropriate. We can also arrange video or phone calls if this works best for you.

As well as being supported by some of the best legal minds in the UK, you’ll get access to our Support and Rehabilitation Co-ordinators. They’ll support you throughout and after your claim, to make sure you make the best recovery possible. They work with charities and organisations around the UK, which means the support will always be local to you.

Once compensation has been secured, you might be worried about managing the money and making sure it pays for any ongoing care that you may need. Our Asset Management team will be there to support you and offer informed options to make sure your money is there in the future.

Football Injury Claims - More Information

When you contact our team of expert solicitors, we’ll first gather information about what’s happened. It’s also at this point we’ll discuss possible funding options, including no win no fee agreements.

Once we know what’s happened to you, we’ll begin gathering evidence. This could be medical records, witness statements, or CCTV (if available). We sometimes use independent medical experts, who can help with assessing your injuries and provide more information on your recovery and future needs. Their expert opinion can be crucial when making a claim.

We’ll then take your claim to those who we believe are responsible for your injuries. If they accept fault for your injuries, we’ll start discussing the amount of compensation we believe you’re entitled to. We’ll work to get you interim payments while we wait for the final settlement. These are taken out of any final compensation amount.

If the other party doesn’t accept fault or disagrees with our compensation amount, we might need to go to court. We understand court proceedings can be daunting and stressful for people. We’ll always try to avoid going to court but will be with you every step of the way if we do.

Even when a court date is set, claims can still be settled out of court. We’ll try to pursue an out-of-court settlement up until the very start of the trial.

Your compensation can be used to pay for various things, including:

  • Expenses
  • Loss of earnings
  • Further treatment
  • Any adaptations e.g. to your home
  • Any care costs.

As with most personal injury claims, you’ve three years from the date of the accident to make a claim. We always encourage you to contact us quickly. This is because the evidence will be easier to gather.

There are some exceptions to the three-year rule. These are:

  • Children – when a child turns 18, the three-year limit begins. Up until being 18, there’s no time limit.
  • Mental capacity – there are no limits to claiming on behalf of someone with lacks mental capacity.

If you’ve any questions about time limits when making a claim, contact our team who can explain more.

Yes, most of our football injury claims are made using no win no fee claims. If we do use a no win no fee agreement, there’s no financial risk to you.

Please visit our no win no fee page for more information on how it works.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I make a football injury claim?

If you’ve had an injury while playing football, whether as a professional or amateur player, you could be entitled to claim football injury compensation.

Many football injuries happen because of perfectly legal challenges. If you were injured by a legitimate tackle, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to claim compensation.

Bad tackles aren’t the only cause of football injuries. The owners of sports facilities must provide a safe playing environment, so you may have a case if you’ve been injured because of:

  • A poorly maintained pitch
  • Chemicals, shards of glass or other hazards on the pitch.

We’ve helped thousands of people make personal injury claims. We’re experienced in investigating how accidents happen and what should’ve been done to prevent them. For more information, contact us.

What kind of injuries happen on the football pitch?

Although knocks and bruises are unavoidable in a contact sport like football, bad challenges or poor pitch conditions can cause a range of injuries, including:

  • Serious cuts and lacerations
  • Fractures
  • Concussions and other head injuries
  • Torn ligaments.

Depending on the nature of your injury, you may find that you’re unable to work or carry out everyday tasks. We’ll make sure that these factors are considered in your compensation.

Deep lacerations caused by shards of glass and other hazards can leave scars, which could influence your psychological wellbeing. Our solicitors understand how distressing this can be, so we’ll work hard for it to be recognised in your claim.

Contact us to see if you can make a claim.

What evidence do I need to make a claim?

The sooner you get in touch with us, the easier it is for us to investigate your claim. We may need to interview other players, referees, and spectators, so we must speak to them while the incident is still fresh in their minds.

If there’s any video evidence, you should keep hold of it. Similarly, try to take photos of anything relating to the injury, for example:

  • Stud marks
  • Glass shards
  • Grooves showing where the tackle happened.

Football injury claims can be complex and not everyone who’s injured while playing football will have a claim. We’ve a team of specialist lawyers with experience in helping both professional and amateur players seek compensation for injuries sustained on the football pitch.

Contact us online for more advice about making a football injury claim.
